Fra Angelico’s Sacred Florence
A private journey through art and light, from Palazzo Strozzi to San Marco.
Service Description
Step into the serene world of Fra Angelico through a private tour that reveals the spiritual beauty of one of Florence’s most beloved Renaissance masters. Option A – Palazzo Strozzi (2 hours) Begin your experience at Palazzo Strozzi, where the exhibition dedicated to Beato Angelico brings together a magnificent selection of his works, shown alongside masterpieces by Masaccio, Filippo Lippi, and Lorenzo Monaco. Within the elegant Renaissance halls, guests discover how Angelico’s refined use of colour, light, and composition transformed sacred art into a bridge between faith and innovation. Guided by an expert in Florentine art, you will explore the painter’s life, his devotion, and the extraordinary influence he had on the artistic spirit of fifteenth-century Florence. Option B – Palazzo Strozzi & Museo di San Marco (3 hours) Extend your journey to include the Museo di San Marco, the Dominican convent where Fra Angelico lived and painted his most intimate frescoes. Walking through its quiet cloisters and monastic cells, visitors encounter his work in its original spiritual setting. The celebrated Annunciation greets guests at the top of the stairs, while each fresco within the cells reveals a delicate balance between contemplation and artistic mastery. This itinerary connects Angelico’s public commissions with his private devotion, offering a complete experience that unites art, history, and spirituality. The Museo di San Marco generally closes around 1:50 PM on weekdays, 6:50 PM on Saturdays, and between 4:50 PM and 7:00 PM on Sundays, and remains closed on certain Mondays, Sundays, and public holidays. Florence Attaché will take care of all arrangements, ensuring a seamless and inspiring visit.
