Broken. The Power of the Fragment
Private Guided Visit at Palazzo Strozzi
Service Description
Discover Broken. The Power of the Fragment, the major new exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi exploring the extraordinary role of the fragment in the history of sculpture, from the ancient world to contemporary art. More than eighty works and artefacts bring together different cultures and periods, from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome to Michelangelo and Rodin, alongside contemporary artists including Louise Bourgeois, Huma Bhabha, Francesco Vezzoli and Danh Vo. The exhibition also features a new installation by Mark Manders, conceived especially for Palazzo Strozzi's Renaissance courtyard. Accompanied by a private expert guide, the visit offers a deeper reading of the exhibition and its central theme: how an object that has been broken, altered or separated from its original whole can acquire a new artistic, historical and symbolic meaning.
